Event Details

Chris Fahey, USAF (Ret.) served as an F-16 instructor and a forward air controller assigned to the 101st Airborne during Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Chris is currently a Boeing 767 Captain for Delta Airlines. He is also a volunteer pilot for Planes of Fame Air Museum.

Chris will present the history of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) of World War II. They flew over 60 million miles, transported every type of military aircraft, towed targets for live anti-aircraft practice, simulated strafing missions, transported cargo, and freed up male pilots for combat. Thirty-eight WASPs died during these duties and they were considered civilians with no military standing or benefits. They would not be acknowledged for their contribution to the war effort and receive veteran status until 1977.
